This tape really works for avoiding pet scratches to soft furniture. It is strong and has good adhension. Oh well, they also suppled complimentary ring collar for my pet and it is of good quality. Thanks ?We got a new sofa and there was one arm my cat always scratched on, so I got this tape. It deters him just fine. As a bonus they sent a breakaway cat collar.I don't have cats. I have goblins shaped like cats. I have tried everything to keep them out of certain spots in my apt. Duct tape, tin foil, stinky spray, squirt bottles, compressed air, yelling from a distance-- nothing. I was at my wits end thinking I would need to just laminate my carpets to keep them from being destroyed when I found this product and decided to give it a chance.I don't know if it's because the cats can't see it as well, but they don't go near this stuff. I lined the bottom of my doors with it, and the stopped scratching. I used it to cover the part of the carpet they've stared tearing up, and not only do they leave it alone, the tape holds the carpet together.No idea whether it'll actually teach my goblins anything, and the look of having tape everywhere can look a little tacky. But I'll take a little bit of tack over forking over my security deposit any day.EDIT Oct/21: I would like to amend my review and say that this stuff does not come off easy if it gets even slightly warm. I had it on the windowsill and the edge of the freezer door, and it took a long time of peeling it in strips to get it all the way off. Additionally, the stickiness may not deter all cats, but keeping the white backing on was actually much more efficient in protecting furniture. Even if they scratch it, it'll only pull up the paper side, if they can get through it at all.If they could make this tape with a wood panel print to match my doorframes, it would be perfect.My cat hasn't scratched my new recliner at all with the tape on the cornersI have three cats and MULTIPLE scratch pads and posts. Two of the three STILL use one corner of my couch and an ottoman to give themselves a manicure. This tape has worked! I have NOT tried to remove it yet, but the places I've put it aren't visible so I don't need to remove it. I think it'll be fine though, as I sampled pulling one edge up after it was on for a week, and the fabric of the couch was intact. I'm not sure I would use on leather...I also have an issue with my kitten wanting to jump on my dining room table. This is a NO-NO but I'm having trouble conveying this. I read on a kitten site that putting this tape on placemats and putting the placemats on the table could deter kitty. IT WORKS!! I have five cloth placemats with sticky tape on the table. It's only been a couple of days and kitty is less inclined to jump up after sticking to the mats!! It worked so well that I took a piece of tape and put it on my windowsill where my kitten likes to go BEHIND one of my houseplants and then play in the dirt of the plant. Another NO-NO that I'm having trouble conveying. Fortunately, my windowsills are white, so I didn't peel the tape off of the backing, I simply taped a piece onto the windowsill, thus no 'sticky' surface to peel off the windowsill and risk having an issue.It's a little hard to "start" the peel, but what "peeling" paper is easy?So far so good. I recommend!Oh I love this. The cats hate it, which is stopping them from scratching the top of the couch quite a treat! It hasn't ruined the furniture, we've put it on the couch twice and had no damage done. Played a little joke on my partner and placed some on a door handle, which took us quite some time to get off, and was quite sticky for a while, even once off, so it really does depend on the material of the object you put it on. So definitely take the advice of trying it on a small patch before placing it on a larger surface area! A great purchase for sure, and there's no doubt in my mind that if the cats don't learn to stop scratching surfaces not meant to be scratched, we'll be buying more in the future!This tape is nice and strong! I've put it all over the sides and back of my sofa and armchair. So far the new kitten hasn't scratched them! (Although he tried a bit on the top where there was no tape.) He clearly dislikes it when his paws stick to it. My husband also clearly dislikes when his arm sticks to it. I don't think either of them will be scratching the furniture any time soon :DI have two new kittens and also two new sofas. Both of which cost a lot of money. From the moment we put the tape on the sofa, the kittens have never tried to scratch it again. They don't even particularly touch it, they just sniffed it and that was enough. Now it is visible, and other things can stick to it, but for training purposes or just breaking a habit it is fantastic. We have just put it all around the base of the Christmas tree in desperation and voila!!! No more kittens in the tree!!! Would definitely recommend.This is great unless you are using somewhere it is going to be pulled off easily. My cat scratches my bed so I used this but then the quilt kept getting stuck and pulled it off. Would be great on a sofa or somewhere your not getting really close to and stuck on clothingAt first I was happy with this, it stuck well and stopped my kitten scratching a chair and jumping on my kitchen counters. However it is incredibly hard to remove; it tears in to lots of sections as the tape is so thin and leaves a horrible sticky residue that’s incredibly hard to clean off.
