I bought this tape specifically to mount my paper art on my apartment walls. I bought another brand/make before this, but the art fell after only a few hours. I bought this tape because the add said it was good for mounting.I was surprised at how small the roll is; only 3" in diameter. The add says 10' and I'm sure that's how much is on the roll, so I'm not unhappy with the size, just surprised.The tape does exactly what I bought it for. I put up the shadow box owl which fell using the other double-sided tape and 24 hours later it's still on the wall. I only used two 1/2" squares of this tape to hang the box. It's definitely effective. I haven't removed it so I can't answer that question. As far as removing the red backing that I've had problems with, after all the tape is very, very sticky. I've found, once placed, stretching the tape ever so slightly makes the red backing peal up enough to get a hold on it.I find this glue fascinating. It's like gel glue gone wild. I would love to see how it's made. The roll may appear smaller than I expected, but it's very powerful. I'll buy it again before it runs out.Update:When I wrote the original review, I hadn't used the tape on anything heavy. This morning, however, I mounted a power strip with several plugs and a heavy transformer on it. I used two strips about 3" long, one on the top and one on the bottom of the back of the power strips and pressed it as well as I could in the areas where the tape is. It's seems to be holding quite well. I'll update if it falls off.Also, I live in the "high desert." Everything dries out here. I recommend keeping the unused roll in a sandwich bag to keep it moist longer. The dryness here may also contribute to the failure of this tape's hold, but I wouldn't except that to happen for quite some time.
